current summary

there are 17 major ocean currents, and there are 5 of them surrounding the US. most of them are warm currents, but a few of them are cold currents. how you can tell that they are warm or cold, is by where the current is located on the world map. being near the equator most of the currents are warm, but the farther you go north or south the more the currents will be cold currents. when several currents come together its called a gyre. they spin clock-wise in the northern hemisphere and counter clock-wise in the southern hemisphere.
